I am not pleased with the final results from the two visits from Precision. The door movements continues to frequently jerk to a start of motion and a second door continues to sporatically "catch" as it rolls through the path in the track. After a silencing call for the door to glide quietly up and down and to start its movement with a controlled quiet movement not a BANG and a sudden movement. At this point in time, I cannot recommend Precision for additionn work on my other garage doors or to others. (fellow landlords)

I want to make this situation right but it is going to require additional work that you were not willing to do on our initial visit. Scott McDonald was our technician. He was wonderful! He fixed the problem right away and then took the time to explain what had happened and how we could fix it ourselves if it occurred again. The sensor eye was not aligning properly. He lubricated the garage door opener and it now works so smoothly and quietly. What a courteous young man! In our day and age, I rarely find someone so friendly, knowledgable, and polite. Our two dogs even liked him.
I would have no trouble using or recommending Precision Door service and telling everyone to be sure and ask for Scott McDonald!

I chose Precision for convenience and because you had the quality brands I know and wanted for my home--I knew when I called that I would need a completely new door opener to replace my existing failed unit (11 years old and installed by the home-builder, so its time was up!). I have had a wonderul experience dealing with your company, from the first call through completion of the job, which, as noted, was complete replacement of a residential double-garage door opener. It was easy to make a prompt and immediate appointment that was convenient to me (this is the first contact with a seervice company and its importance cannot be overstated!); the technician, Tim, came when expected, and was incredibly knowledgable and helpful in making the correct choices for a substantial job, and as promised came with a stock of available, various choices that could be installed by him on the spot once I chose what was correct for the job (all of this being the seconds step, also not possible to overstate its importance). Tim carefully inspected my existing equipment totally so that when he was done, I had an encyclopedic knowledge of the state and status of even the smallest components of my garage door and opener, and all hardware associated with it. This is the proper state of knowledge to form judgments about what was required to be done. Tim then took the time to explain every important issue for me to consider, answered every question I raised, offered consumer-centered advice and recommendations as well as the full range of choices, and was not ever "pushy" or offensive in any way--in fact just the opposite--Tim was helpful and accommodating in every possible way, and also extremely competent and quick in his work (without compromising either safety or quality). I expect a continuing relationship with Precision, and want Tim to return to my home if and when I need further service. I told him that and he said it was company policy to do just that. Once the installation job was done and he had set everthing precisely and correctly, Tim took the time to explain everything necessary to understand and operate the new opener and remote transmitters with proper understanding of safety concerns and features of importance. This is the kind of serivce I try to seek for everything, and believe that Tim provided service that exceeded every possible expectation, and in this he was supported by your company. I spent a lot of money for a complete Liftmaster replacement door opener having the most modern safety and convenience features, including battery back up, and have the feeling that every single cent was well-spent and that I received an extremely fair value, including a valuable warranty from the manufacturer, and your company's backing. I have already recommended Tim and your company to a neighbor and am sure I will do that in the future. In this day and age it is very gradifying to meet a compedant and courteous person, one who truly knows hes business. Your company was reccomended by our neighbors,who spoke very highly I was not dissappointed and will use you again

Brian did a great job explaining what was wrong with our garage door opener and letting me know what our various options were for installing a new one since the old motor had broken and the parts on the springs were not working either. He was very professional and informative. We would definitely use him again in the future if we needed more services done!

Your service technician was polite, diagnosed the problem, and offered at least 2 alternative solutions and price points. His work was quick and efficient, and he left the area clean upon comnpletion.

First let me start with the positives. I called at 10am spoke to a real person and had an appointment between 12-4 the same day. Scott came fixed my door in about an hour.

A lot of the reviews complain about the pricing. I will have to go along with that. I had a broken spring, Scott pointed out that one of the pully's was shot and so was one of the cables. He told me to put back the same parts piece meal would cost me almost the same as having all new hardware installed. I asked how much and he said for new hardware that has a lifetime warranty was XXX. To me for two springs two pully's new rollers and some cable that is pretty expensive. You can tell that they try to upsell you to their pully's as they have a whole chart made that says ours vs. theirs why theirs is better. Now don't get me wrong it is well in their perogative to tell you that what comes on your door is not the best, and they probably do have superior parts than what comes installed on most garage doors. In the end I did have the work done, because the tech was already there and I didnt want to have an accident with the other spring going. But you can tell that what they want is not to just fix what broke but to upsell you to get all new hardware. I don't know what others charge or how other garage door repair companies work but to me the price was high. I do have the satisfaction of a lifetime warranty on all those new parts though.

I do want to explain what Scott did.
When I train our employees I instruct them the best way to fix a garage door long term is to rebuild it. In most cases replacing one spring on a door is equivalent to putting a band-aid on it. Garage door hardware is rated in cycles; much like a car is rated by how many miles it has on it.
The other spring has expanded and contracted the same number of times as the one that just broke. In reality our most unsatisfied customers are the ones who fix one spring and then call us one month later because the other one broke. Who wants to take a second day off to fix the door again?
Most garage doors are made up of 2 springs, 4 pulleys, 10 rollers, one set of operating cables, one set of safety cables, hinges and assorted nuts and bolts. Scott’s job is to inspect each of these components and look for wear and tear. When springs fail it is common to find frayed cables or grinding pulleys. For homeowners who are staying put, the best long term approach is to replace it all at once. Ultimately you make the decision that works best for you. Most of our customers appreciate our honest, educational approach.

I was very disappointed with Precision's service. I had a repair issue because of a broken cable, and instead of fixing what was broken they wanted to replace everything and charge $XXX! If the customer just wants a repair, give the customer what they want! And for that they charge a $XX service fee!

Thank you for your feedback. I had a discussion with your technician. He told me that your door was in an unsafe state. In particular, he told me that your bottom panel was rotted and would need to be replaced. I know you have elected to have no work done and have replaced the individual broken cable. Of course this your prerogative, however, we would never recommend you do this. Stainless steel cables do not break because of the weight of the door. Cables break because they are dragging through pulleys that are not turning or rubbing against something they shouldn't be. The best way to fix a door in this condition would be to rebuild the hardware and change the bottom section or replace the entire door. Tim recommended this to you and you have elected not to do it. The $69 service fee we quoted you before coming out to the house is not conditional of whether we do the work or not. I have reached out to you twice on the telephone to discuss this with you further. My goal is to have 100% customer satisfaction. If you call me back, I will make that happen. Regards.

I had two replacement Liftmaster garage door openers installed on Friday, 4 December 2009 by Jeff Dela Cruz. Jeff arrived at the time promised and efficiently and professinaly removed the old units (40-year old Liftmasters) and installed the new units with the associated safety devices and laser parking assists.
