Great technician. Very professional and great work performed. Unrelated to technician-- price quite high for spring replacement. May have to go elsewhere for opener replacement due to what i can assume will be an astronomically high price.
- Mark Chase
Mark, Don't sell us short. I think you will find our price on openers is extreemely competitive. To be the largest garage door company in Northern NJ you need to be. We do quote openers on the phone. Thank you for your business. Doug
Westfield, NJ
The technician was very courteous and seemed very professional, but, as I had not realized that a new opener would be needed, I did not do a price check. Since I cannot say whether the pricing is competitive, the required 1-5 star ranking may be too high or too low.

Overall I am happy with the work performed, but it was WAY, WAY more than I expected to pay. The repair set me back quite a bit. The quality is there but I wished there was a more economical alternative. Tim was VERY courteous, VERY knowledgeable, punctual and skilled but a little bit hard to follow in conversation. I'm sorry, but depending on the circumstance of the next incident, it's a strong possibility I will seek a less expensive service organization.

Job done well.Tech was good.Comment is about price. Had garage door spring replaced. Most of the comparable work should cost around $200.I was charged $438.00. What is your comment.

The precision rep was very nice, but the price of the repair and rollers seemed a little excessive.

I am not pleased with the final results from the two visits from Precision. The door movements continues to frequently jerk to a start of motion and a second door continues to sporatically "catch" as it rolls through the path in the track. After a silencing call for the door to glide quietly up and down and to start its movement with a controlled quiet movement not a BANG and a sudden movement. At this point in time, I cannot recommend Precision for additionn work on my other garage doors or to others. (fellow landlords)
- michael shulman
Michael, I'm sorry you are not satisfied. I appreciate your feedback. I want to make this situation right but it is going to require additional work that you were not willing to do on our initial visit. I am willing to waive our service call to come back and complete the job. If you decide to do this I would guarantee the door functions the way it should. Please call me at 973-283-3555 and I will work with you. Doug

Good service. The technician was very professional, and showed up as scheduled. The only concern is that I thought the job was a lot more expensive than I anticipated

Angel, Thank you for your feed back. If the job was more then our quote before starting work, please call me direct. Doug 973-283-3555

Good clean work. Tries to create more business but not pushy. A bit pricy for the work I had done. Also need to read fine print on their coupon mailers as to free estimate.

Service was prompt - same day was appreciated. Technician was pleasant and skillful. I was a little taken aback to spend XXX for a new garage door opener when I thought the job was going to be a repair. Clearly the new opener is excellent quality and works well. Surprising to me was to receive a "Moneymailer" discount offer in the mail two days later. I am hopeful to obtain a discount based on the coupon or at least a Senior Citizen Discount as mentioned in the the mailer which was not offered by the technician.

Meril, Call me direct at 973-283-3124. I will work with you on this issue. We appreciate your business and want you to be 100 % satisfied. Doug

good service. but still had to wait 1 full day to get garage door fix. on the truck it says 2 hour service, that should be deleted. SCOTT was good tech. fix the door and explain what he was doing. I ask about rubber under the door, THAT WAS CUT SHORT BY ANOTHER TECH IF HE COULD FIX IT HE CALL THE OFFICE AND SAID THERE IS ONLY 90 DAY WARRENTY, I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED. IT WENT UNNOTICED UNTIL THIS DOOR NEED IT TO BE SERVICED. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE ASK FOR THE OWNER OF COMPANY!!
- Henry Carlone
Henry. Thank you for your review. You are right when you say we advertise same day response. Unfortunately we we not able to comply due to employee health issues. When we miss this commitment we will waive our service call. I am refunding this to you via mail. The rubber on the bottom of the door only has a 90 day warranteebecause animals can chew through it. If you call me directly at 973-283-3124 I will try to resolvethis issue. Doug

I had called the company because my door was not opening and closing. I had Scott come to my home after inspecting the problem he recommended that a new garage door opener be purchased as our other unit was 12 years old. He showed me that the springs had some wear and if the sensors had been replaced (which I said was not the case) it would be more efficent to buy a new unit. I agreed to this but he did not tell me until I questioned him afterwards and the job was complete that the springs and pulleys were not included and were a separate package. I also did not receive the packet of info. with different packages until after the job was completed. Do be honest he was efficient, clean about his work but I was not happy because he was not upfront about what the charges included and what was "extra". I would not call your company back again as I do not appreciate surprises. For the amount I paid it should have included the extra hardware.
- debbie stern
Debbie, Thank you for your business. I'm sure the new garage door opener will solve the problems. We appreciate your feed back. Doug

First let me start with the positives. I called at 10am spoke to a real person and had an appointment between 12-4 the same day. Scott came fixed my door in about an hour. A lot of the reviews complain about the pricing. I will have to go along with that. I had a broken spring, Scott pointed out that one of the pully's was shot and so was one of the cables. He told me to put back the same parts piece meal would cost me almost the same as having all new hardware installed. I asked how much and he said for new hardware that has a lifetime warranty was XXX. To me for two springs two pully's new rollers and some cable that is pretty expensive. You can tell that they try to upsell you to their pully's as they have a whole chart made that says ours vs. theirs why theirs is better. Now don't get me wrong it is well in their perogative to tell you that what comes on your door is not the best, and they probably do have superior parts than what comes installed on most garage doors. In the end I did have the work done, because the tech was already there and I didnt want to have an accident with the other spring going. But you can tell that what they want is not to just fix what broke but to upsell you to get all new hardware. I don't know what others charge or how other garage door repair companies work but to me the price was high. I do have the satisfaction of a lifetime warranty on all those new parts though.
- Roger
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for your fair appraisal by pointing out both the positives and negatives of your experience with us. If you donâ??t know we have a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee along with a lifetime warranty on all parts. I will call you to make that happen. I do want to explain what Scott did. When I train our employees I instruct them the best way to fix a garage door long term is to rebuild it. In most cases replacing one spring on a door is equivalent to putting a band-aid on it. Garage door hardware is rated in cycles; much like a car is rated by how many miles it has on it. The other spring has expanded and contracted the same number of times as the one that just broke. In reality our most unsatisfied customers are the ones who fix one spring and then call us one month later because the other one broke. Who wants to take a second day off to fix the door again? Most garage doors are made up of 2 springs, 4 pulleys, 10 rollers, one set of operating cables, one set of safety cables, hinges and assorted nuts and bolts. Scottâ??s job is to inspect each of these components and look for wear and tear. When springs fail it is common to find frayed cables or grinding pulleys. For homeowners who are staying put, the best long term approach is to replace it all at once. Ultimately you make the decision that works best for you. Most of our customers appreciate our honest, educational approach. With that said, if you are second guessing your decision, please call me to discuss your concerns today. Thank you, Doug

On 3/30/2010, Tom stopped by my house, I complained that my door, if the windy day,my door had the problem open up, when the calm day, then it is OK. He changed the whole new door opener, then check the 18 point. But, after he left the second day, my problem remains, so, he did not solve my problem previously that I had my sears brand. Problems remains, I call, then the tech. of DAVID, I told David to change the wire connect to the eye in the bottom of the right and left hand side. He then changed those two wires, that was installed more then 10 years ago with sears brand. Why tech. Tom did not realize this two wires, he did not really check the whole 18 points at all. Please add those wires into your 18 points check list in the future. This means, my sears opener was OK, it was the old wires make the door can not open properly sometimes. I do not appreciate your tech.
- sarah cheng
We have reviewed the issues regarding your service and found that the safety eyes Tom had installed were defective. All wires were replaced when the new opener was installed. Although it is unusual to have a defective safety eye with a new opener, it does happen. As a Provantage dealer for Liftmaster Garage door openers we have a direct line to their product development team and have notified them of the issue. We also replaced your safety eyes with new ones on the same day you called for return service, and everything is working perfectly. We use Liftmaster products because they have a 99.6% success rate out of the box. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any problems in the future all parts and labor will be covered at no charge. Best wishes.

I am very pleased with the installers and your office staff. I am not pleased with the panel. It looks mismatched and takes away from the curb appeal. May be an issue when I try and sell the house
- irwin turk
Irwin, unfortunately when replacing panels only there will be differences in color between the old and new panels. This is due to the weathering over time of your original garage door panels. Any color will fade due to exposure to sunlight and the effects of weather. That is why we strongly suggest that our customers replace all panels. It is more costly but will save you curb appeal down the road.

Brandon, did a good job, however he put one of the pieces the wrong way and it broke, second day. It had to be fixed.
- leon
Leon, I apologize for any inconvenience that you had. As we are all human beings, we do make mistakes and errors do occur, and that is unfortunate. To confirm though, we did come out the same day you called and fixed the issue. Be assured that we take these reviews seriously and are formulating a training session for our technicians on issues similar to this that lead to callbacks. My service manager will ensure that issues like this do not occur.

The service was well done. The technician was very informative and gave me good tips to keep the door working during the winter season. The price for the repair was high but the service was good.

Made appointment for Monday a.m. Someone called my wife and confirmed it for Monday afternoon. Technician called Monday a.m. to say he was on the way. Changed all rollers and door was working. Shortly after Stuart left, I opened and closed the door and a roller broke. Technician came back right away and replaced it. At this time, the door is working well.

Brian did a complete rebuild of my garage door....He was very helpful explained everything completely and was extremely proficient in his repairs. Other than the price I was extremely pleased. Service was 5 star.... Price a 2.... A suggestion ??: Precision Door should have a variety of "rebuild" plans in order to fit within the confines of different budgets. If you had that as an option I would have no problem recommending Precision Door. Right now I would recommend...but would warn about the price
- David Barone
Thank you Mr. Barone for your review. I'm pleased that you felt the service was top notch. I work very hard at hiring the best people I can find to represent our company. Every one of our employees are subject to background checks, drug tests and a 2 month training program before they are allowed in your home. This is done because garage door technicians have the ability to have the code off your garage door opener without you knowing, gaining access to your home. It amazes me to find people that apply for jobs with us are rejected due to a criminal record and are working for my competitors next week. Our pricing structure on door rebuilds takes into consideration we are the only company in the industry that warranties the parts for the life of the homeowner. By using the best parts in the industry we can assure our customers they will not need to take another day off work to re-fix the door 18 months from now. We have considered offering rebuilds using inferior parts to reduce our pricing structure but feel that being like most other companies is not in our customers best interest. In December of 2008 we instituted a customer review process on our website. Almost every one of our customers are rating us just as you have. We have a 97% customer satisfaction rating. When I get a review with a 3 star rating I look at it carefully. I will consider your review as a possible way to improve my business. Best Wishes, Doug Bencsko

Ben was a gentleman. Just like everything else related to house repairs... It's expensive, but other than the cost, I have no complaints. The finished product appears to be well done..

I was pleased with Anthony. He surveyed the entire door and did the oiling that was required. He did have to try about 3 openers before one worked. When i called in the repair I should have been asked more questions so Anthony could have had the correct unit . But overall, I’m satisfied.

Was late but called to let us know. Performed a thorough inspection and suggested a total rebuild. We opted for the cables and springs at this point. Job was completed quickly, quietly and with little to no mess. Three stars is a good rating as it means I got what I expected, value for price. Nothing more nothing less. I would recommend Precision Door to others. I do not know the location of the contractor so I am putting the closest location.
